CALL FOR ARTISTS: KATRINA: A NEO-DIASPORA

  • 1712 Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard New Orleans, LA 70113 (map)

As the city of New Orleans commemorates the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and the aftermath that caused the nation to pause, the Ashé Cultural Arts Center is honoring that memory through art, stories, and memorabilia in the KATRINA: A NEO-DIASPORA exhibition.

Mixed Media Exhibition:

Since Hurricane Katrina, we've seen the footprint of New Orleans travel across the world. You almost can't go anywhere without seeing "New Orleans Style [Insert dish, dance, music, etc]".

This exhibition calls for imagery of New Orleans people, cuisine, & music all over the country. What survived and what was reinvented. This collection also calls for masking suits seen across the world, Katrina memorabilia that survived through the storm, and depictions of Orishas of the storm.

All artwork must be original and created entirely by the artist(s). The deadline for the Katrina 20 Exhibition Artist Call is Friday August 1, 2025.
